Sit-em: Keenan Allen (LAC) vs. Buffalo

The entire Los Angeles Chargers offense has been a fantasy football letdown in 2017. Most of all has been wide receiver Keenan Allen. He entered the season healthy and ready to go and has not produced to the level many people expected.

  • Allen has been with the Chargers for a few seasons now and has shown promise of a No. 1 receiver each year. However, each of the past seasons, Allen has suffered season-ending injuries, which forced fantasy football players to always question his true potential. This season, the injury bug has missed him and he has not shown the talent he has in previous years.

Allen is easily leading the Chargers in targets and should continue to do so. He has been unable to turn those looks into yards or touchdowns this season. He and quarterback Philip Rivers cannot seem to get this offense moving no matter how much they try to force the ball to Allen.

Over the first six games, Allen was averaging nearly 10 targets a game, but with that not working, they have looked other places in the weeks since. Allen has seen his usage drop significantly over the past four weeks, and it is devastating to his fantasy value.

Facing the difficult defenses in Jacksonville and New England the past two weeks may also contribute to this dip in opportunity. It doesn’t get much easier this week against Buffalo.

The Bills are quietly on the edge of the playoff picture and have been playing great, defensively. Allen is in store for another rocky week, and one has to wonder whether that explosive player from the past will ever appear this season.
