San Francisco 49ers: Week 11 stock report after win over Giants
By Peter Panacy
Linebacker Ray-Ray Armstrong
San Francisco 49ers
Not long ago, the 49ers were awfully thin at linebacker. Especially after releasing veteran linebacker NaVorro Bowman last month.
One of the beneficiaries was backup linebacker Ray-Ray Armstrong. But with rookie linebacker Reuben Foster’s apparent healthy return, Armstrong has since been pushed to the periphery.
Armstrong saw just one snap in Week 9 against the Arizona Cardinals and didn’t see the field at all against the Giants despite being active. It appears as if the Niners are set on using a linebacker combination of Foster, Brock Coyle and Eli Harold.
This leaves Armstrong out.
It’s not necessarily surprising. Armstrong owns a lowly 39.7 overall grade, according to Pro Football Focus. And it’s probably safe to assume he’s not part of the team’s long-term plans.
