The Broncos are in free-fall mode, and oh-so much of it stems from the lack of production under center.

This time, the Broncos rolled out an ineffective Brock Osweiler, who managed 221 yards and one touchdown against one interception for a passer rating of 72.9. Offensive ineptitude was a sizable problem, although Denver did manage to go 8-of-15 on third downs. What gave the New England Patriots the edge in this Sunday Night Football matchup, though, were the multitude of gaffes on special teams.

That 103-yard kickoff return by Patriots return man Dion Lewis set the tone for the 41-16 loss:

Even with an elite defense, Denver’s season has quickly turned into one to forget. They fall in our NFL power rankings and are in danger of dropping further.
