No. 5: A 49ers Receiver Will Have at Least 100 Yards

It hasn’t happened since Week 5, when wide receiver Marquise Goodwin posted 116 receiving yards, but a good prediction will have at least one San Francisco receiving target break the 100-yard plateau in Week 10.

The Giants enter the game having allowed 265.3 passing yards per game (29th) and are also allowing an average of 7.0 pass yards per play (28th). Outside of EDGE Jason Pierre-Paul, New York’s pass rush has been anemic. And coverage abilities on the outside have a prime weakness.

Per Pro Football Focus, the Giants’ top-two corners, Eli Apple and Ross Cockrell, boast a 72.4 and 50.8 overall grade, respectively.

This opens up chances for the Niners to target Cockrell, and the safe money would be on Goodwin being the primary target.

With No. 1 Niners wideout Pierre Garçon (neck) on injured reserve, Goodwin should wind up getting the lion’s share of targets during the game.

If he can exploit the matchup versus Cockrell, San Francisco’s pass game should be in good shape and Goodwin can reach that 100-yard mark again.
