Head coach Ron Rivera’s clock management might not be the best, and the Falcons certainly had a chance to pull off a key road win in the waning minutes in Week 9.

Alas, it wasn’t the case, though, and the Panthers managed to eek out a tough 20-17 victory in this NFC South matchup.

Quarterback Cam Newton wasn’t particularly great, but it was nice to see offensive coordinator Mike Shula start incorporating rookie tailback Christian McCaffrey into his complex running game. McCaffrey finished with only 66 yards rushing but averaged a respectable 4.4 yards per carry.

The game also marked the first contest without No. 1 wideout Kelvin Benjamin, who was traded to the Buffalo Bills prior to the deadline a week ago. Devin Funchess was the primary beneficiary of this, so let’s see if Carolina’s offense can find some rhythm as a result.
