No. 1: Hue Jackson, Cleveland Browns

2017 Record: 0-8, Fourth in AFC North

The Browns are clearly the worst team in football and, perhaps, all of professional sports.

This designation primarily falls upon ownership and the front office, and the NFL trade-deadline debacle — one that could have landed Cleveland a new quarterback in Bengals’ A.J. McCarron — points to the ineptitude this organization has:

The problem is, though, owners don’t fire themselves. They fire head coaches.

More from Niner Noise

Head coach Hue Jackson is on his second stint leading a team. So far, over two seasons in Cleveland, he has a 1-23 record. Even if his roster stinks — it does — Jackson does deserve a share of the blame.

Constant swapping of quarterbacks — going between Cody Kessler, Kevin Hogan and rookie DeShone Kizer — on a seemingly weekly basis isn’t a good look. It does nothing for the direction of the franchise.

The Browns front office hasn’t shown patience for its head coaches either, even if the rosters have been bad. Realizing the team is getting no better with Jackson at the helm, he’ll likely be gone too after this season is over.
