No. 4: 49ers to Replicate a Strong Pass Rush?

The Niners haven’t exactly boasted a stellar pass rush this season, especially off the edge. But a questionable Cardinals offensive line should open up some opportunities here.

Remember, in Week 4 on the road versus Arizona, San Francisco mustered six sacks and a whopping 16 hits on then-starting quarterback Carson Palmer.

The Cardinals O-line hasn’t gotten any better, nor has it added significant reinforcement. According to Football Outsiders, this unit ranks 23rd in pass protection — one spot behind the Niners.

Drew Stanton actually has a higher sack rate (12.5 percent) in the one game he’s played in Palmer’s stead (seven games, 7.6 percent), which could indicate a less-than-optimal 49ers pass rush could have an easier go of things during this NFC West contest.

It is important to remember, however, the Niners will be without EDGE Arik Armstead (IR, hand) and could be without fellow pass-rusher Aaron Lynch (questionable, calf).

Nevertheless, look for San Francisco to replicate it’s Week 4 efforts as much as possible.
