The 49ers have too many pressing needs to address this offseason, and it’s hard to say whether or not wide receiver will be among the fixes.

Rolling with the veteran, Pierre Garçon, at No. 1 isn’t a bad idea in 2018. But considering he’ll be 32 years old next season, the Niners might want to think about finding a true top-tier receiver sooner than later.

It’s not likely going to be wide receiver Marquise Goodwin, whose speed was impressive during training camp and the preseason but hasn’t translated over into regular-season production. But with so many other voids to fill between now and the next time the Niners are serious contenders, sticking with the incumbents is probably best for San Francisco.

We should pay attention to how well rookie wideout Trent Taylor develops between now and Week 1 of next year.

College football’s leading receiver from 2016 has made some splashes this season, and he could be a valuable tool for head coach Kyle Shanahan’s offense when it finally starts to click.
