49ers vs. Eagles: Full Week 8 preview for San Francisco
Significant injuries
As if the 49ers were not already ravaged by injuries, the list just added another member to it: defensive lineman Arik Armstead. Against the Washington Redskins in Week 6, Armstead suffered a broken left hand.
The lineman tried to play through it and consulted various options — he wanted to play with a cast — before opting for surgery. According to Armstead’s father, Guss, the surgery went well. Armstead was placed on injured reserve on October 17 and will miss the remainder of the season.
In his place will be defensive lineman Datone Jones, whom the 49ers signed just this week. Like Armstead, Jones has played primarily as a 3-4 defensive end.
Here is the full list of injuries for the 49ers heading into Week 8 (via ESPN’s Nick Wagoner):
"Out — CB K’Waun Williams (quad), DE Aaron Lynch (calf). Questionable — LB Reuben Foster (ribs/ankle), OT Trent Brown (concussion), G Brandon Fusco (biceps), WR Marquise Goodwin (back)."
