The San Francisco 49ers visit the 6-1 Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8 in a game San Francisco isn’t likely to win. Regardless, the Niners can accomplish some simple goals during this bout.

The winless San Francisco 49ers are coming off the worst loss of their 2017 campaign thus far, falling 40-10 to the Dallas Cowboys and being completely overmatched on both sides of the ball in the process.

Meanwhile, the 6-1 Philadelphia Eagles are fresh off a divisional victory over the Washington Redskins in a game where quarterback Carson Wentz carved up the Redskins secondary with relative ease.

A complete mismatch, right? No wonder the Eagles are listed as 13-point favorites, according to Sportsbook Review.

The optimist might say the Niners go into Philadelphia and play more like the close-loss team we saw prior to Week 7. But the realist understands this game is probably going to be ugly — an easy victory for Wentz and Co.

Still, that doesn’t mean Week 8 is without its key objectives.

In this slideshow, we’ll look at five realistic goals head coach Kyle Shanahan’s squad can look to achieve without necessarily competing for a win. Sure, an upset would be nice. But let’s focus on the other things San Francisco can try to accomplish as it looks to gain some respectability after such an ugly debacle versus Dallas.
