NFL power rankings: Week 8 sees the Eagles sitting at No. 1
By Peter Panacy
Yep, it’s panic time for the Atlanta Falcons.
The defending NFC champions forgot to show up, offensively, during their 23-7 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football in what didn’t look like an inspired rematch of Super Bowl LI.
Despite such a strong start to the season, quarterback Matt Ryan and Co. have now lost three straight games and have scored a mere 41 points over that three-game stretch.
So much for being the league’s most dangerous offense a year ago. That’s a distant memory now.
What’s worse is the Falcons bye week was in the middle of this losing streak, so one has to seriously question the preparation head coach Dan Quinn and his staff are putting in.
Making things worse, Sunday night was just the first of a three-game road trip for Atlanta, part of four road games over a five-game stretch.
Hence the hefty drop in our NFL power rankings this week.
