No. 2: Pittsburgh Steelers

It’s crazy to think how the Pittsburgh Steelers defense went from laughable a few years ago to one of the best in the NFL this season. Indeed, the Steelers rank second in the league so far with just 258.7 yards allowed per game.

Still, the defense is far from perfect.

Up to this point, the safety fits for Eric Reid’s services have primarily focused on free safety needs. In this case, Pittsburgh already has Mike Mitchell patrolling this area to desired effect. The team could use an upgrade over strong safety Sean Davis, who is seeing more time down in the box.

To date, Davis owns a 65.0 overall Pro Football Focus grade.

Reid’s in-box abilities were on full display with the 49ers over the first two games of 2017, and one would think this could be a relatively easy fit in Pittsburgh.

Plus, the Steelers have already demonstrated a willingness to trade with 49ers general manager John Lynch, recalling the move of tight end Vance McDonald earlier this season.
