No. 2: Wide Receiver Trent Taylor

Rookie wideout Trent Taylor wasn’t much of a factor on offense, hauling in five passes for 39 yards.

But Taylor’s biggest gaffe occurred just before what would have been San Francisco’s first offensive possession. After forcing a Dallad 3-and-out, Taylor fumbled the subsequent punt at the 14:00 mark of the first quarter.

Cowboys safety and special teams ace Xavier Woods recovered the fumble, and the Dallas offense scored a touchdown three plays later to go up 7-0.

The reason why Taylor is listed among the losers here is because that play set the tone for the entire game. Taylor’s fumble was the first of four the 49ers had over the course of the contest, three of which were lost.

Considering how much talent the Niners lack this season, self-inflicted wounds like these are simply things head coach Kyle Shanahan’s squad can’t overcome.

And there were plenty for San Francisco on Sunday.
