The San Francisco 49ers continued their mistake-filled ways against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7, falling 40-10 on a day honoring legendary receiver Dwight Clark. Niner Noise breaks down the contest and dishes out grades.

Self-inflicted wounds have been a theme for the San Francisco 49ers almost all of 2017, and Week 7 against the Dallas Cowboys was no different.

This contest was going to be a mismatch anyway, requiring the still-winless Niners to play near-perfect football against a Cowboys squad coming off its bye week.

Any hopes for an upset were quickly dashed in the first quarter with a punt-return fumble by Trent Taylor, upon which the Cowboys recovered and subsequently scored. And another San Francisco fumble on a red-zone drive, coming off a sack of quarterback C.J. Beathard, thwarted a possible end-zone score.

If that was the difference, well, a 40-10 loss at the hands of the Cowboys makes sense.

At least fans were excited to see rookie linebacker Reuben Foster return to action for the first time since injuring his ankle in Week 1.

But Foster’s efforts weren’t enough to prevent Dallas’ star running back, Ezekiel Elliot, from having a huge game.

Needless to say, there aren’t going to be too many pretty grades for the 49ers this week.

So let’s break down which units performed well and which didn’t in our weekly game-grades analysis for San Francisco.
