Significant injuries

The news most 49ers fans have been waiting for — rookie linebacker Reuben Foster is nearing his return:

"“He’s not 100 percent ready to go, but I feel very optimistic about it,” Kyle Shanahan said Friday. “He had another good practice today. As long as there’s not any setbacks here over the next 48 hours or whatever it is, I feel pretty confident.”"

Foster, who suffered an ankle sprain just minutes into his NFL debut in Week 1, is looking more and more likely to suit up this week.

Here’s the full injury report, courtesy of the 49ers:

  • Linebacker Ray-Ray Armstrong: questionable (shoulder).
  • Linebacker Brock Coyle: questionable (shoulder).
  • Linebacker Reuben Foster: questionable (ankle).
  • Fullback Kyle Juszczyk: out (back).
  • Defensive lineman Aaron Lynch: out (calf).
  • Defensive lineman Dekoda Watson: questionable (groin).
