Niner Noise takes a look at five stats for the winless San Francisco 49ers to see what areas are actually good for head coach Kyle Shanahan and Co.

The San Francisco 49ers are terrible in the one statistic that means the most — wins and losses.

Through six weeks, the Niners have… well, they’re still reaching for their first victory under first-year head coach Kyle Shanahan. And it’s not likely to come in Week 7 against a tough Dallas Cowboys team.

But as most fans know, the 49ers have been much more competitive than last year’s bunch. While it’s not a record San Francisco would ever brag about, this year’s team has lost its last five games by a combined 13 points. In doing so, the Niners are the first team in NFL history to lose five straight games by no more than three points each.

So Shanahan and Co. have to be doing something right, right?

While there are a lot of concerning areas and room for improvement, let’s focus on the positives the Niners have displayed through six weeks this season. We’ll take a look at five statistical areas in which the 49ers are good.

Yes, good.

And we’ll kick it off with one of the biggest problem areas from last season, run blocking.
