Rookie quarterback C.J. Beathard saw his first regular-season action for the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6, and Niner Noise looks at the tape to see how he did in this film-review breakdown.

The Brian Hoyer era for the San Francisco 49ers lasted five-plus weeks before head coach Kyle Shanahan pulled the plug and went with rookie quarterback C.J. Beathard in the middle of the second quarter against the Washington Redkins in Week 6.

Beathard wasn’t perfect, far from it. The third-round draftee went 19-of-36 for 245 yards and a touchdown against one interception. And that lone pick was on San Francisco’s last drive of the game — an attempt to get into field-goal range before time expired.

Overall, Beathard posted a 72.1 passer rating during the contest. It’s not great, but one should note he was part of two critical offensive drives resulting in touchdowns.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan later indicated Beathard would remain the team’s starter for the foreseeable future.

With this in mind, let’s dive into the tape to see what the rookie did well and what wasn’t so good.
