Running Back Matt Breida

Carlos Hyde might have gotten the majority of carries in Week 6, but Matt Breida made more out of his.

Hyde led all ball carriers with 28 yards on the ground (not exactly much), but the undrafted rookie managed 21 yards on four carries. That’s an average of 5.3 yards per play against a Redskins defense allowing 3.9 yards per carry prior to Sunday.

Breida might not be an every-down tailback. But it wouldn’t be a shock to see Kyle Shanahan give him more carries over the rest of the season.

After all, it doesn’t seem likely the Niners will retain Hyde beyond this season. Might as well see what Breida can do from this point onward.
