49ers film room: Top 10 plays from Week 5 vs. Colts
By Chris Wilson
George Kittle pass interference (No. 7)
After the 49ers fail to gain yardage on two plays, they have a 3rd-and-10 at their 28-yard line. The Niners line up with 11 personnel in a shotgun formation, with George Kittle motioning to the left side of the formation prior to the snap.
Pressured from his left, Brian Hoyer quickly runs out of time, but doesn’t have a receiver open beyond the sticks. Hoyer sees cornerback Pierre Desir currently has Kittle covered, but doesn’t have the best positioning for Kittle’s pending cut towards the sideline.
Deciding that Kittle is the best of his limited options, Hoyer tosses the ball toward his tight end, trusting Kittle to make the play. Desir continues to make contact with Kittle while the ball is in the air, and holds his left arm back, forcing Kittle to attempt an unsuccessful one-handed grab.
The ball falls incomplete, but Desir is flagged for the pass-interference penalty, and the 49ers have a fresh set of downs:
Win probability: +16% (23% to 39%)
