With San Francisco once again coming up short in their quest for their first win in 2017, Niner Noise looks at five takeaways from their Week 5 loss in Indianapolis.

Another week. Another close loss.

It seems to be becoming a theme so far this season for the San Francisco 49ers.

After losing to the Colts 26-23 in overtime, the Niners have dropped their last four games by a grand total of 11 points. Close, but no cigar. And close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

Okay, clichés aside, they need a win in the worst way. And, as with most struggling teams, it is the little things that have cost them in crucial moments. As the season goes on, a team’s tendencies (good or bad) begin to shape what type of season that team is headed for.

For the 49ers, right now it is trending in the wrong direction.

With that said, let’s look at five things we took away from their tough loss at Lucas Oil Stadium.
