In a thrilling affair, the San Francisco 49ers comeback attempt was foiled as they lost 26-23 to the Indianapolis Colts on an Adam Vinatieri 51-yard field goal in overtime. Here are the full postgame grades and analysis from the matchup.

It seems like this 2017 San Francisco 49ers team just can’t catch a break. The Week 5 loss was the second consecutive in overtime, and now means the 49ers have lost their last four combined games by a total of 11 points.

That’s probably the biggest positive that can be drawn from San Francisco’s 0-5 record, that they’re right there in these games. It’s not like they’re being absolutely obliterated and failing to put up a fight.

But, effort doesn’t count as a win and here the 49ers are winless heading into Week 6 of the regular season. It’s the team’s worst start since 2010.

Looking ahead, it doesn’t get any easier as San Francisco takes on a trio of NFC East opponents: on the road next for the Washington Redskins, then face the Dallas Cowboys the following week for a home game and go back on the road to play the Philadelphia Eagles after that in Week 8.

The 49ers are staring at 0-8 directly in the eyes. Another season riddled with double-digit losses is looming on the horizon.

Here are the full grades and analysis from San Francisco’s Week 5 matchup.
