As the San Francisco 49ers travel to Indianapolis for a Week 5 matchup with the Colts, Niner Noise looks at a few questions the 49ers need to answer as the team looks to get their first win in 2017.

Close, but no cigar. That could be the theme for the San Francisco 49ers so far this season.

With losses to the Seattle Seahawks, the Los Angles Rams and the Arizona Cardinals by a total of eight points combined, the 49ers could have a few wins if they could have gotten the ball in the end zone or made a play here or there. But alas, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, which is why the team sits at 0-4 this season.

There is no doubt the close losses can be frustrating for the players, coaches and the fans as well. However, it seems as though head coach Kyle Shanahan is the type of coach that will be encouraged by the fight the team has and the improvement in certain aspects (pass rush, run defense, etc.) that, if built upon, could get San Francisco a win on the road against a very  beatable opponent in the 1-3 Indianapolis Colts.

So with that said, let’s look at a three questions to answer that could determine the outcome at Lucas Oil Stadium this Sunday.
