Sit-em: Eli Manning (NYG) vs. Los Angeles Chargers

It’s only Week 5, and I have told fantasy football players to sit Eli Manning twice already. Unfortunately, that is the state of the New York Giants offense in 2017. Things are not good right now in New York, and Manning isn’t going to have fun against the Chargers on Sunday.

The Chargers pass rush, with EDGEs Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa is very young and very dangerous. The New York offensive line is injured and poor. This is not a good combination for Manning and the passing game.

Manning is going to be under constant pressure, and an absolute lack of a running game isn’t going to help. Whether running back Paul Perkins plays or not, the Giants have not run for over 100 yards yet this season. The L.A. defense is going to be focused solely on stopping Manning and the passing game.

Wide Receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is still not 100 percent healthy after his preseason ankle injury. Brandon Marshall has done next to nothing in a Giants uniform. Sterling Shepard has only had one good game this season, and he can’t do it alone on this offense.

Until the Giants can find some kind of balance on offense, avoid Manning. Maybe the injury to Perkins opens up opportunity for rookie running back Wayne Gallman to step up. However, I’m not trusting that until I see it happen on the field.

There are much better options to go with for your fantasy football team in Week 5.

Other options: Jared Goff (LAR) vs. Seattle and Mitchell Trubisky (CHI) vs. Minnesota
