NFL power rankings: Week 5 sees 49ers stay low, a new team at No. 1
By Peter Panacy
No change in standings for the Cardinals this week.
While any win is to be savored, the fact Arizona had to rally late at home in overtime to pull off a victory over the lowly 49ers says something about head coach Bruce Arians’ offense. Wins like these won’t come easier against better competition.
OK, so the Cardinals are trying to handle the absence of running back David Johnson (wrist) as best as they can, which means putting the offense in the hands of veteran quarterback Carson Palmer.
But with a banged-up offensive line, Palmer was sacked six times and took 16 quarterback hits.
Considering his age, that’s not exactly a formula for continued success.
Things don’t exactly look bright for Arizona either, taking to the road to face the Eagles in Week 5, followed by a home matchup against a tough Buccaneers squad.
