49ers stock report following Week 4 loss to the Cardinals
By Peter Panacy
EDGE Elvis Dumervil
Edge rusher Elvis Dumervil nearly had his 100th career sack in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Rams, only to see it wiped out by a 49ers penalty.
Dumervil made up for it in Week 4, though, registering two sacks against Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer.
Here was No. 100, courtesy of our friends over at 49ers Webzone:
At 33 years old, Dumervil is little more than just a situational pass-rusher at best. But that’s fine, considering the Niners lack a true EDGE in key pass-rushing situations.
Arizona’s questionable offensive line certainly allowed San Francisco to improve upon the three sacks it had coming into the game, finishing Week 4 with six more and a whopping 16 quarterback hits.
Dumervil will have a chance to replicate his efforts in Week 5 against a similarly questionable Indianapolis Colts O-line.
For now, Dumervil’s stock gets a spike.
