San Francisco 49ers: Too-early 7-round mock 2018 NFL Draft
By Peter Panacy
Niner Noise kicks off evaluation of the San Francisco 49ers’ plans in the 2018 NFL Draft with this full seven-round mock. Even if it’s way too early.
The 2018 NFL Draft is a long, long ways away, and only a few members of the San Francisco 49ers are thinking about which collegiate prospects to target this upcoming spring.
And while it’s early, with draft projections certainly changing between now and April, it’s never too early to start speculating about how general manager John Lynch and Co. will go about addressing the Niners’ many team needs in this upcoming year’s draft.
So why not mock it?
Yes, it’s early. I’ll also admit I haven’t watched enough film on some of the guys towards the back end of this year’s draft class.
Fortunately, other people have. We’ll use some of those scouting reports.
San Francisco currently has nine picks for the 2018 draft. Here’s the list, courtesy of Niners Nation’s David Fucillo:
"1st: Own pick 2nd: Own pick 2nd: Saints pick (49ers dealt 2016 3rd to land this + 2016 7th round picks) 3rd: Own pick 3rd: Bears pick (Acquired in Bears move up for Mitchell Trubisky) 4th: Steelers pick (Acquired in Vance McDonald trade) 6th: Own pick 7th: Own pick 7th: Chiefs pick (Acquired in Kenneth Acker trade)"
To simplify things a bit, there are no trades for San Francisco (we should expect those), and I also used FanSpeak’s On the Clock simulator to determine which players would fall where.
So please don’t get mad at me if you think Player X isn’t going to be available in Round Y or whatever.
Still, I’m the one picking. And these are the nine players going to the Niners after the 2018 NFL Draft is said and done.
Starting off in Round 1.
