The San Francisco 49ers have been inconsistent on both sides of the ball over three weeks this season. So here are three stat lines the Niners must improve in Week 4 when they face the Arizona Cardinals.

The San Francisco 49ers are one of only a handful of winless teams three weeks into the 2017 NFL season.

On one hand, this is what most probably expected. The Niners are only at the beginning phases of a long, long rebuild, so these struggles are likely to continue over the course of the season.

Yet there are plenty of areas in which this team has been wildly inconsistent.

In Weeks 1 and 2, head coach Kyle Shanahan’s offense was almost nonexistent. But then the 49ers put up 39 points in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday Night Football. Equally perplexing, the 49ers defense was good enough the first two weeks, only to fall apart in Week 3 on prime-time television.

San Francisco faces the Arizona Cardinals on the road in Week 4. Perhaps not quite as dominant as years before, the Cardinals are still vastly better than the Niners at this point.

So who knows if San Francisco is able to improve upon these critical stat lines this upcoming week, but it certainly would benefit Shanahan and Co. to make some notable improvements on these five key areas in Week 4.
