Wide Receiver Trent Taylor

Forget about the pass-interference call on wide receiver Trent Taylor late in the fourth quarter. Or just watch it back and consider it a gaffe by the officials.

Either way, the rookie wideout certainly made a splash in Week 3.

And while his three-catch, 32-yard performance doesn’t exactly jump off the page, the nature of each catch certainly has to be taken into account.

On this particular play, Taylor shed two would-be tacklers for an 11-yard gain before being pummeled by a hit to his head:

Most receivers probably would have been slow to get up. But not Taylor.

Later on, Taylor recorded his first NFL touchdown in the fourth quarter — a unique cutback move to create some space along the goal line:

Taylor is an offensive weapon the Niners would be wise to get involved more often this season.

And these efforts from Week 3 suggest he’s up for the challenge.
