Significant injuries

Headlining this week’s injury report is Reuben Foster. All of the 49ers organization and their entire fan base held its collective breath when Foster went down with a leg injury in the first quarter against the Panthers last week.

Dread followed when the sight of the cart used to transport injured players off the field arrived to the spot where Foster was located. What followed next were moments filled with anxiety and trepidation as the news of Foster’s injury diagnosis were waiting to be announced.

Finally, a sigh of relief as it came back that Foster only suffered a high-ankle sprain (it’s still a serious injury, just not as severe as a broken tibia). For now, Foster is being ruled out but with no definitive timeline.

Joining Foster on the injury report is safety Jimmie Ward, who’s been injured since the beginning of training camp. But that looks like it might change soon, as The Niner Wire’s Chris Biderman reports that Ward is contending he’s full-go:
