Niner Noise breaks down the top-five toughest quarterbacks the 49ers will face this upcoming season and why each matchup will be difficult for San Francisco.

The San Francisco 49ers might own the 20th most-difficult strength of schedule heading into 2017.

But that doesn’t mean the Niners have it easy.

On the surface, San Francisco should be in a position to win a number of games this season. Yet a number of scheduled opponents could easily provide tough matchups for the red and gold as they look to turn a page on a 2-14 season a year ago.

Key among these matchups are, of course, quarterback play.

Fortunately, the 49ers don’t have to square off against Tom Brady of the New England Patriots, Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Falcons — the reigning league MVP — or Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers.

Still, there are a number of signal-callers who are assuredly tough on San Francisco.

In this slideshow, we’ll take a look — and rank — the five most difficult quarterback matchups the Niners face this season.

Remember, Week 1 is only a few days away.
