 Marquise Goodwin: Riser

Perhaps no one player has been singled out for his impressive play so far in camp than wide receiver Marquise Goodwin.

After coming over as a free agent from Buffalo Bills, Goodwin is looking for increased playing time and a platform to showcase his talents.

Goodwin has been hauling in deep passes from new quarterback Brian Hoyer, displaying his jet-like speed to go with solid footwork and pass-catching ability.

In fact, fellow receiver Jeremy Kerley has certainly taken notice of Goodwin’s ability, stating, “He’s got a lot of passion in the game and he puts in a lot of work at it. So he’s definitely a guy that I think everyone could look forward to and he’ll have a takeoff season.”

And while the 49ers brought in Pierre Garcon to be the number one receiver, the door is open for any one of a host of receivers currently on the roster to step up and claim the number two receiver position.

While with the Bills last year, Goodwin posted 29 catches for 431 yards and three touchdowns.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan is hoping Goodwin can increase those numbers, become a complete receiver, and help boost an offense that ranked 31st last season in total yards.

With Shanahan’s innovative offensive mind and a quarterback in Brian Hoyer who has shown a touch on deep passes so far in training camp, Goodwin may be set up to have a breakout season for San Francisco.
