Niner Noise takes a look at the San Francisco 49ers depth chart at wide receiver as training camp continues. Who makes the cut and what will the order be?

It’s weird to think it, but the San Francisco 49ers may actually have a fairly solid crop of wide receivers entering the 2017 NFL season.

As training camp continues into its second week, a number of these receivers are vying for a spot on the team’s 53-man roster. Cuts will take place between now and Week 1, and the pressure has already removed one returning veteran from the equation.

The Niners parted ways with 2014 draft pick, Bruce Ellington, on Thursday.

This doesn’t bode well for holdover players from the Trent Baalke era, as head coach Kyle Shanahan looks to put his own stamp on this crucial position.

Some, like wideouts Pierre Garcon and Marquise Goodwin, are shoo-ins to make the final cut. They’ll also wind up being placed close to the top of the depth chart.

But what about the rest?

For starters, here are the receivers on San Francisco’s offseason roster:

  • Victor Bolden
  • Kendrick Bourne
  • Aaron Burbridge
  • DeAndre Carter
  • Pierre Garcon
  • Marquise Goodwin
  • Jeremy Kerley
  • Louis Murphy
  • Tim Patrick
  • Aldrick Robinson
  • DeAndre Smelter
  • Trent Taylor

One might expect the Niners to keep six of these players on the 53-man roster, especially if some can double on special teams.

So let’s keep all that in mind as we break down a prediction for the Week 1 depth chart at this position.

Starting at the top with Garcon.
