No. 2: Running Back Matt Breida

Earlier this offseason, Niner Noise already sang the praises for running back Matt Breida — a player who had a disappointing 2016 at Georgia Southern but had plenty of prowess the previous two years.

San Francisco already has three favorites at the position to make the roster — Carlos Hyde, Tim Hightower and Joe Williams.

Williams, a fourth-round rookie pickup, looks as if he’s worth waiting for. But Breida might squeeze in on the back end.

At least according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter (h/t David Fucillo of Niners Nation):

"I will give you another sleeper name who I will not be surprised if he makes an impact this summer, and a guy that is going to make their roster, and that’s Matt Breida, who was an undrafted free agent many people haven’t heard of. And again, we’re only through the early part of camp so things change, but I believe that that guy has a chance to make a mark this summer."

Breida needs to add some bulk to his 5-foot-11, 190-pound frame.

But as a reserve option, there’s a serious chance the UDFA winds up getting his shot after the preseason.
