Round 6, Pick No. 180: Running Back Alfred Blue

Original Pick: Cornerback Kenneth Acker

The 49ers have already added two cornerbacks in this draft class by now, but they could still use some depth at running back.

Plus, it would spark some competition behind Frank Gore, with fellow-rookie Devonta Freeman still learning his game in our revisionist viewpoint.

Former LSU standout Alfred Blue is the pick here. At 6-foot-2 and 223 pounds, Blue gives a vastly different look than either Gore and Freeman. Collegiate injuries likely kept Blue from being drafted higher, but he would have been an excellent change-of-pace back never intended to shoulder a regular load.

Since being drafted, Blue has averaged 3.6 yards per carry and even had 698 rushing yards in 2015.
