When general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan took over the San Francisco 49ers, they stated the first sign a team is making progress is it cuts players that can be productive in the league.
With 10 draft picks and 12 free agents added since the start of last season, and a slew of other players brought in to compete for roster positions, the battles during training camp promise to be hotly contested.
The grueling summer that lies ahead for these players will lay the foundation for what hopes to be a team headed in the right direction coming off a 2-14 season in 2016.
Whether it be veterans, rookies, free-agent additions or undrafted free agents, finalizing the 53-man roster will come down to the wire.
