Known for his electrifying style as a returner, Abe Woodson’s resume as a Niner is an impressive one. He was a five-time Pro Bowl selection, which all came successively from 1959 to 1963.

Woodson’s first trip to the Pro Bowl came as a defensive back, the same season he had his highest interception total (4). The rest of his trips were as a returner and defensive back. He was also named to first-team All-Pro each season during his Pro Bowl run. Basically, he was known as the league’s top return man as Woodson at multiple points led the league in several key categories during his career.

His total of 15 interceptions is 20th on the all-time list, tied with Walt Harris.
