Throughout the storied history of the San Francisco 49ers, the team has featured a number of exceptional defensive linemen. Let’s rank the 10 best in 49ers’ franchise history.

When looking back at who has suited up on the defensive line for the San Francisco 49ers, it’s undeniable the fact that the team has had a handful of stellar players occupy the position.

From the great Leo Nomellini, to most recently the powerful Justin Smith, the list is a formidable one.

And right now it’s a point of emphasis for the team — they’ve invested their past three first-round picks on the defensive line. With Arik Armstead, DeForest Buckner and Solomon Thomas, the 49ers are hoping to establish an impenetrable line that will be the backbone of a top defensive unit.
