Philadelphia Eagles — Quarterback Carson Wentz

While the Philadelphia Eagles may not have been quite as ridiculed for giving up so much to land quarterback Carson Wentz in the 2016 NFL Draft as the Rams were for getting QB Jared Goff, the pressure is equally as on for this second-year starter.

Wentz’s rookie season wasn’t particularly great, but he didn’t exactly have the most options with which to work.

As a result, the Eagles went out this offseason and picked up free-agent wideouts Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith to beef up Philadelphia’s otherwise lackluster receiving corps.

These moves, combined with the return of dynamic running back Darren Sproles, should help make the Eagles offense more prolific and potent this season.

Wentz doesn’t have the luxury of playing in the tough NFC East though. In order to get Philadelphia into the discussion of division contender — where both the Cowboys and Giants now stand — Wentz will have to be on his game 100 percent.

That makes him Philly’s No. 1 player to watch this season.
