The San Francisco 49ers are going through a major roster rebuild and could look to trade some commodities this offseason. Here are five players the Niners may trade before the regular season.
San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch has been hard at work remaking a roster largely devoid of talent.
It’s going to be a long, drawn-out process in Santa Clara for the next few seasons, but each move marks a critical step to turn around what was a 2-14 team a year ago.
While rare in the NFL, trades are a part of those changes.

The Niners have already been linked to trade rumors and transactions this offseason. Tight end Vance McDonald was among the first to be on the trading block, and other reports surfaced linebacker NaVorro Bowman was being shopped as well.
The 49ers brass refuted the latter, but the thought of San Francisco moving players remains a real possibility.
In this slideshow, we’ll take a look at five players the Niners may consider moving this offseason before the regular season even begins. We won’t argue whether or not they should, in most cases. Rather just point out the possibility of it happening.
Remember, NFL trades are rarities. Teams move players this way often to stockpile precious draft picks, and other teams are hesitant to give them up.
Regardless, let’s take a look at some players San Francisco might consider moving prior to Week 1.
And no, Bowman won’t be on this list.
