No. 9: Bill Romanowski

49ers Tenure: 1988 – 1993

Pro Bowl Selections: 0

Although he was never selected to a Pro Bowl during his time with the 49ers, linebacker Bill Romanowski ranks an one of the best to play the position in the franchise’s history. Known for his vicious hits and vigorous playstyle, Romanowski ended up finishing his San Francisco career with 445 tackles in 96 games — good for eighth on the 49ers tackle leaderboards.

Here’s what our very own Peter Panacy wrote about him while building an all-time San Francisco Team:

"Despite the controversies that plagued his career, one has to remember that his aggressive play started in San Francisco and helped earn him the reputation that carried him through that career. For that reason, Romanowski has earned a spot as one of the 49ers’ greats."

A menace on the field, Romanowski’s ability is what merits his ranking among the top 49er linebackers.
