San Francisco 49ers: 2017 NFL Draft report card
By Peter Felsch
Round 7, Pick No. 229 Overall
Adrian Colbert, CB Miami — B
In the seventh round, teams are looking to fill depth and draft for future rather than instant impact.
Safety Adrian Colbert will fit nicely in the Niners new system with his size and physicality as a defensive back.
He started out as a safety at the University of Texas but transferred over to Miami after being plagued by injuries. Colbert made the the switch to corner and is still raw, so he still needs some grooming in his technique.
If Colbert shows promise on special teams, he could work his way up to some playing time early on.
He is ready to prove the league wrong already for not selecting him earlier, and this attitude is what the Niners need for the future.
