San Francisco 49ers: Post-NFL Draft Win, Loss Predictions for 2017 Season
By Peter Panacy
Week 6 at Washington Redskins
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Washington Redskins tank this season in a bad way. The front office is a mess, and that sort of thing eventually trickles down onto the field.
Just ask the 2014 49ers.
Quarterback Kirk Cousins doesn’t want to be there, and he lost two of his best weapons — wide receivers DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon.
Garcon may come out with a vengeance against his former club too. And it’s hard to see Washington’s defense, even after adding former Alabama defensive lineman Jonathan Allen in Round 1, making a solid stand.
Why San Francisco Wins
The 49ers will have to play angry after dropping consecutive road contests. And the Redskins are the perfect team to do this against.
Washington’s defense may be slightly better than it was a year ago. But the Redskins offense is in shambles. And losing former coordinator Sean McVay to the Rams will hurt in more than a couple of ways.
San Francisco’s offense resembles something of worth in this contest.
Why Washington Wins
Sloppy football. The 49ers could easily be weary of the elongated early season road trip, and it shows up on the field. Remember all those missed tackles from a year ago? Well, stuff like that comes back to haunt San Francisco.
Cousins puts on a show in an attempt to convince Kyle Shanahan and Co. he deserves a big contract with the Niners in 2018.
