Key NFL Draft Additions: QB Patrick Mahomes, DE Tanoh Kpassagnon, RB Kareem Hunt

Hats off to the Kansas City Chiefs for landing, possibly, the quarterback with the highest ceiling of any signal-caller in the NFL Draft.

Patrick Mahomes is raw and will need at least a couple of years to develop. But moving up in Round 1 to grab him, especially over the Cardinals, was a smart move. In the meantime, Kansas City will roll with aging veteran Alex Smith under center. That will have to work for now.

Defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon has a lot of upside but could eventually help alleviate the loss of defensive tackle Dontari Poe via free agency.

And the selection of former Toledo running back Kareem Hunt was an excellent pick. He has tremendous talent and should wind up being a game changer in the near future.

Kansas City shouldn’t have any trouble staying relevant in the AFC West.
