Round 2, Pick No. 34

. Linebacker. Alabama. Reuben Foster. 34. player. 42

Some of you may be shocked by the fall of Reuben Foster into the second round, but it’s entirely possible. Foster’s been sliding ever since the National Championship, when he looked to be a lock in the top 10.

Since then, he’s had a shoulder injury that’s caused him to be sidelined, an argument that caused him to be sent home from the NFL Scouting Combine and a diluted — failed — drug test.

Not to mention that there were reports that Foster did poorly during the combine meetings, it could have him at this spot for the 49ers.

Former NFL GM, Michael Lombardi, chimed in saying that Foster should be available in this range of picks:

This could potentially be a home-run pick for John Lynch and the 49ers front office. A few months earlier, many draft experts were mocking him to San Francisco at No. 2 overall, but now they’re getting a talented player at No. 34.

He could be a great partner to LB NaVorro Bowman in Robert Saleh’s new defensive scheme.
