B.J. Daniels

2013 NFL Draft, Round 7, No. 237 Overall

I remember former 49ers quarterback B.J. Daniels having an impressive preseason effort against the Kansas City Chiefs prior to the 2013 regular season.

Daniels emulated a lot of the same characteristics of Colin Kaepernick, outside of his 5-foot-11 frame. The former was elusive on the ground and had a decent arm for someone of his stature. So it made sense for San Francisco to pick him up at the tail end of the 2013 NFL Draft.

But Daniels didn’t make the 53-man roster that year and was eventually signed off waivers by the Seattle Seahawks in October. The move likely was to add a player of similar build and skill set to an up-and-coming quarterback, Russell Wilson.

The former South Florida quarterback had stints with the Seahawks, Texans, New York Giants, Chicago Bears and eventually the Atlanta Falcons, where he’s currently on the team’s depth chart at wide receiver.
