No. 8: Running Back Dalvin Cook, Florida State

The 2017 NFL Draft provides a deep class of running backs, and one of those at the top is Florida State’s Dalvin Cook.

Cook has some red flags but also enough offensive intrigue to make him a fit in head coach Kyle Shanahan’s offense.

It was enough to entice San Francisco’s top brass to bring Cook in for a pre-draft visit on April 5, per NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco.

Note, CBS Sports’ Rob Rang’s big board lists Cook ahead of LSU running back Leonard Fournette, who has a lot more smoke behind the rumors tying him to the Niners.

Who knows what this means, but it’s all but guaranteed the 49ers will add depth and competition behind No. 1 tailback Carlos Hyde this offseason.

The only question is when and in what round.
