No. 5: Cornerback Marshon Lattimore, Ohio State

Like the safety position, the 49ers are going to put a lot of pressure on their current group of cornerbacks.

And it’s one of necessity, following the team’s release of veteran corner Tramaine Brock after his arrest for an alleged domestic violence incident.

The Niners corners will be in one-on-one coverage a lot this season, which means coverage guys are crucial.

Ohio State cornerback Marshon Lattimore is the best pure coverage corner in this year’s draft, and San Francisco surely realizes this. The team brought him in for a pre-draft visit on April 5, per Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller:

This wouldn’t be a bad move by the Niners in Round 1, even if they make the pick at second overall.
