No. 28: Defensive End Taco Charlton, Michigan

Don’t let Michigan defensive end Taco Charlton’s 6-foot-5 frame fool you, he’s a promising pass-rusher off the EDGE and could be a force for a team needing defensive line help.

Like a few of the prospects in this part of Rob Rang’s big board, the Niners don’t have any links to Charlton, nor have they brought him in for a pre-draft visit.

One of the ways Charlton to the 49ers makes sense though is if San Francisco feels he’d be a better option than incumbent D-lineman Arik Armstead.

It’s doubtful the Niners are at that point just yet, and they may feel as if Armstead is a key part of the rebuilding project.

If so, don’t expect the 49ers to call Charlton’s name.
