No. 5: Wide Receiver Rashaun Woods

No. 31 Overall in the 2004 NFL Draft

With former 49ers wide receiver Terrell Owens heading to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Niners needed someone to be a major contributor at the position heading into the 2004 season.

Former Oklahoma wideout Rashaun Woods was supposed to be that guy.

Woods was highly productive in college, which led many to believe this would be an excellent pick late in Round 1 of the 2004 NFL Draft.

Yet that production never translated over to the NFL level. Woods never started an NFL game and managed to appear in just 14 over his brief pro career. His stat line reads out with just seven receptions for 160 yards and a touchdown.

Worse yet, Woods was marred by injuries early and even criticized for not being tough enough to play through them.

Woods missed all of the 2005 season, and San Francisco was forced to admit the mistake the following year.
