The Niners Wire Seven-Round Mock

Written by the Niners Wire’s Jerod Brown, this is one of the few full seven-round mock drafts that’s been distributed.

Here’s Brown’s selections round by round:

Round 1, No. 2: Reuben Foster (linebacker)

Round 2, No. 34: Joe Mixon (running back)

Round 3, No. 66: Carl Lawson (edge)

Round 4, No. 109: Corn Elder (cornerback)

Round 5, No. 143: Joshua Dobbs (quarterback)

Round 5, No. 146: Chad Wheeler (center)

Round 5, No. 161: Delano Hill (safety)

Round 6, No. 198: DeAngelo Brown (defensive tackle)

Round 6, No. 202: Jerome Lane (wide receiver)

Round 7, No. 219: Josh Carraway (edge)

This is a mock draft that deviates from what most one-round mocks have, which has been Stanford defensive lineman Solomon Thomas. The selection of Thomas doesn’t seem like the most logical fit; there’s too much overlap with fellow lineman DeForest Buckner and Erik Armstead. I think the route of Foster in this mock is a good one.

Joe Mixon in the second round is the only pick I’d go against. I don’t think the 49ers are going to want to take any guys in the upcoming draft with any character issues, and I think that’s a modus operandi the front office will stick by.

Joshua Dobbs is an interesting pick, as there has been some buzz building the quarterback from Tennessee:
